Lore of Frostguard:
In the lore of forgotten ages, Frostguard was not a city of men, but a celestial observatory known as Althoria. Built by a precursor race of master astronomers and elementalists, its spires were carved from star-forged stone, designed to channel the cosmic energies of the northern aurora. The towers were not mere fortifications but arcane conduits, their glowing cores resonating with the very heartbeat of the world. It was said the Althorians could read the future in the dance of the winter sky and bend the elements to their will, holding the encroaching ice age at bay with their powerful magic.
Their ambition, however, became their undoing. In a desperate attempt to halt a prophesied cataclysm, they conducted a great ritual to bind the essence of winter itself within the city’s core. The ritual failed spectacularly. Instead of containing the cold, they unleashed its raw, untamable fury. A blast of pure frost-magic erupted from the central spire, shattering the city in an instant and encasing the entire region in a magical, eternal winter. The glowing conduits overloaded, their arcane light now frozen in time—a pale, blue echo of the power that once was. Now, all that remains is Frostguard, the cursed ruins of Althoria, a treacherous, ghost-haunted landscape where adventurers seek lost knowledge and forgotten artifacts amidst the silent, frozen stones.
